FAQs

1. What is sodium-ion, and why is it better than lithium-ion?

Sodium-ion batteries use abundant, low-cost, and safe sodium instead of scarce lithium or cobalt. They’re more stable in cold weather, carry lower fire risk, and eliminate the ethical concerns tied to cobalt mining.

2. Why is cobalt mining considered unethical?

Over 70% of the world’s cobalt is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where child labor, unsafe conditions, and environmental destruction are widespread. By avoiding cobalt, sodium-ion technology helps build a clean and ethical supply chain.

3. How do 1854 EVs compare to other EVs like Tesla or Rivian?

The Hayden, for example, offers ~275 miles of range, charges from 10–80% in under 15 minutes, and performs in extreme cold without major degradation — all at a lower production cost than lithium-ion powered trucks. Unlike Tesla or Rivian, our vehicles are powered by sodium-ion, an abundant and ethical alternative.

4. When will theSe VEHICLES be available for pRE-ORDER?

We are currently preparing pilot programs and fleet partnerships, with pre-orders planned for late 2026. Customers can join our mailing list to be first in line when reservations open.

5. Who are these vehicles designed for?

1854 Motors vehicles are designed for three groups:

Adventurers who demand rugged, all-weather performance.

Families who want comfort and safety without compromising on ethics.

Fleets and industries that need reliable, cost-efficient, and sustainable mobility.

6. What does “1854’ mean?

It means our vision is global, but our supply chains and manufacturing are rooted locally. We focus on creating U.S.-based jobs, using abundant materials, and building vehicles in a way that strengthens local economies.

7. Is sodium-ion really scalable for mass adoption?

Yes. Sodium is over 1,000 times more abundant than lithium, and existing supply chains already handle sodium at scale. With lower costs and ethical sourcing, sodium-ion is uniquely positioned for mass-market adoption.

8. How can I invest or get involved with 1854 Motors?

We’re currently raising capital under a SAFE note and actively seeking strategic partners. Interested investors can request the password to visit our Investor Relations page to request a deck or schedule a conversation.
